Lebanon Pushes for a Ceasefire Before Talks
Well-informed political sources told Al-Liwaa that the issue of setting a new date for the next round of negotiations between Lebanon and Israel, under U.S. auspices, will become clearer, whether the talks are scheduled for mid-September or earlier.
The sources said that if no new date is set, this would indicate that there is an issue and that certain developments are still being awaited. They noted that the Lebanese government remains firm in insisting on a ceasefire as part of the negotiations.
The sources added that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu continues to pursue military operations against areas in southern Lebanon ahead of the Israeli elections.
