Photos: Army Seizes 122mm Grad Rockets Smuggled From Syria Into Lebanon
The Lebanese Army said it seized 122mm Grad rockets that had been smuggled from Syria into Lebanon during a security operation in the Arsal outskirts.
According to a statement issued by the Army Command’s Directorate of Orientation, a military unit operating in the Arsal mountains intercepted the rockets on August 3 as part of ongoing efforts to crack down on smuggling across Lebanon’s northern and eastern borders. A pickup truck allegedly used to transport the rockets was also seized, and two Lebanese nationals identified as members of the smuggling network were arrested.
The Army also carried out raids to locate other members of the network, seizing military ammunition and equipment in the process.
The seized items were handed over to the relevant authorities, while the two detainees were placed under investigation under judicial supervision. Efforts are continuing to arrest the remaining members of the network.
