Ali Hassan Khalil Warns: Israeli Actions Put Framework Deal at Risk
MP Ali Hassan Khalil said Israel’s ongoing military operations demonstrated that reliance on the so-called framework agreement had failed, calling for a reassessment of the process that, he said, Israel was using to justify and legitimize its attacks.
Speaking during a memorial ceremony organized by the Amal Movement in Beirut, Khalil said Israel’s ongoing demolitions, destruction and occupation of southern Lebanese villages had rendered the agreement ineffective from the outset.
He argued that the agreement had failed to secure Israel’s withdrawal, halt military operations or prevent the destruction of villages, adding that the latest explosion near Beaufort Castle should prompt Lebanese decision-makers to reconsider the current approach.
Khalil called for Israel’s complete withdrawal from occupied Lebanese territory, the return of displaced residents to their villages, the launch of reconstruction efforts, progress on the issue of prisoners and missing persons, and the full deployment of the Lebanese Army alongside the restoration of state institutions throughout the south.
He also praised the Lebanese Armed Forces on the occasion of Army Day, urging all Lebanese to support the military and enable it to fully exercise its role and authority across the country’s territory.
