No One Is Above the Law: Salam on Beirut Port Blast Case

  • Mon August 3 2026 12:34 pm

Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said there would be no settlement at the expense of justice in the Beirut port explosion case, stressing that no official, regardless of position, would be shielded from accountability.

Marking the sixth memory of the August 4 explosion in a post on X, Salam said he understood the depth of the national wound and the pain endured by the families of those killed and injured.

He said that although justice could sometimes be delayed, truth alone could begin to heal the country’s deep wound.

No one should doubt that there is no cover for any official, whatever their position, whether in the Beirut port explosion case or any other case, Salam said, adding that accountability would spare no one.

He also called on the Lebanese to remember August 5, the day after the explosion, when Beirut residents and young people from across Lebanon cleared rubble, supported one another and restored hope to the city.

Salam said August 4 should remain a day of truth, justice and accountability, while August 5 should become a day dedicated to Beirut, recovery, solidarity and national unity.
