Aoun leads a series of meetings
Baabda Palace witnessed a series of meetings morning focusing on ministerial, parliamentary, security and social affairs.
As part of the ministerial meetings, President of the Republic Joseph Aoun met Interior Minister Ahmad Hajjar to review the security situation across the country, measures aimed at preserving stability, and plans to strengthen security arrangements in various regions, particularly in Beirut.
Hajjar briefed the president on the efforts of the security agencies to combat drug trafficking, including operations to dismantle smuggling networks and measures to tighten border controls and enhance surveillance.
The meeting also covered recovery and return measures being implemented by agencies under the Interior Ministry, in coordination with municipalities in southern Lebanon, to facilitate the return of displaced residents to their villages while maintaining public order and ensuring a safe and orderly return process.
President Aoun also reviewed administrative and organizational matters related to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants during a meeting attended by Foreign Minister Youssef Raggi, the Ministry's Secretary-General, Ambassador Abdel Sattar Issa, and Protocol Director Ambassador Rola Noureddine.
Aoun was also briefed by Minister of Technology and Artificial Intelligence Kamal Shehadeh on the ministry's progress in issuing decrees and legislation related to its mandate, as well as its technology and digital service projects, coordination with other service-oriented ministries, and its work plan for the next six months.
Minister Shehadeh said he also discussed with President Aoun the progress of the draft law establishing the Ministry of Technology and Artificial Intelligence, which enjoys the president's full support.
The President also received Health Minister Rakan Nassereddine, with whom he reviewed the state of the healthcare sector in Lebanon and the ministry's work across its various departments in line with established priorities.
The discussions also covered the situation of government hospitals, cooperation with relevant healthcare unions, and efforts to ensure healthcare services to citizens.
Additionally, Aoun received MP Alain Aoun, with whom he discussed the latest domestic developments.
Following the meeting, MP Aoun voiced support for all the efforts and the path undertaken by President Aoun to get Lebanon out of the current situation.
Separately, President Aoun was briefed by Beirut Airport Security Chief Brig. Gen. Fadi Kfoury on the situation at Beirut's Rafik Hariri International Airport.
Aoun commended the Airport Security Directorate's efforts in carrying out its assigned duties and reaffirmed his support for the measures taken to preserve airport security and ensure the safety of passengers, arrivals, and airport staff.
In addition, President Aoun received National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Lebanon, Father Georges Al-Ters, along with a delegation, who briefed him on the office's work in Lebanon, which is concerned with the Pontifical Mission Societies, the official missionary institution of the Catholic Church directly affiliated with the Holy See and present in more than 120 countries worldwide.
The institution’s mission aims to foster the missionary spirit, support young churches, nurture children and youth, and assist missionaries, priests, monks, and nuns through prayer, formation, communion, and giving. These efforts are not directed solely toward serving the Church, but are dedicated to serving humanity as a whole.
