President of the Republic Joseph Aoun reviewed transport and security developments during a series of meetings at Baabda Palace.
In talks with Public Works Minister Fayez Rasamny, Aoun reviewed traffic flows across Lebanon’s land, air and sea border crossings, as well as progress in the rehabilitation of René Moawad Airport. Discussions also covered plans to further develop Beirut–Rafic Hariri International Airport within a framework of good governance and sound management.
The President also received Kristoffer Vivike on a farewell visit marking the end of his diplomatic mission in Lebanon.
Separately, Aoun met with Diodato Abagnara, in the presence of Acting UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon Imran Riza. The meeting focused on the situation in southern Lebanon and the work of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, particularly the challenges and obstacles facing its operations within the area of responsibility. Discussions also addressed the future of the mission beyond the current phase of its deployment.
President Aoun renewed his condolences for UNIFIL personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty and praised their sacrifices in the service of peace in Lebanon.
