Kataeb Party accused Hezbollah of attempting to shift responsibility for the war by calling for the government’s overthrow, arguing that those who drew Lebanon into the conflict under the banner of support should be held accountable.
The party reaffirmed its rejection of any weapons outside state authority, stating that such arms undermine stability, national unity, and the restoration of full state sovereignty.
Addressing the reported U.S.-Iran framework agreement, Kataeb stressed that it concerns only Washington and Tehran and does not represent Lebanon. It emphasized that only the Lebanese state and its legitimate institutions have the authority to negotiate on issues affecting the country.
They also called for the Lebanese state, particularly the army, to take charge of assessing war damage once a comprehensive ceasefire is secured. It urged the government to seek compensation from Iran for losses resulting from what it described as a war imposed on Lebanon without the state’s consent.
Furthermore, it insisted that all international aid and reconstruction funds be managed exclusively through official Lebanese state institutions.
The statement concluded with greetings to Muslims on the occasion of the Islamic New Year and expressed hope for greater stability and peace in Lebanon.
