Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri welcomed the memorandum of understanding announced between Iran and the United States, praising the efforts of Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Egypt in helping secure the agreement.
Berri said the understanding lays the groundwork for security and stability across the region, including Lebanon. He also expressed appreciation to both Tehran and Washington for insisting on the inclusion of a binding provision to halt Israeli attacks on all Lebanese territory.
Berri said such a provision would help safeguard Lebanon’s sovereignty, preserve the independence of its national decision-making process and prevent the country from falling into what he described as a political trap set by the Israeli leadership under Benjamin Netanyahu.
