Energy Minister Joe Saddi held a series of meetings with newly appointed board members of Lebanon’s regional water establishments as part of efforts to strengthen governance, fill longstanding vacancies and advance the government’s reform agenda.
According to the ministry, the appointments cover the water authorities of Beirut and Mount Lebanon, North Lebanon, the Bekaa and South Lebanon, with some boards having remained beyond their mandate for more than 18 years.
Saddi emphasized the importance of transparency, integrity and the fair application of the law, stressing the boards’ responsibility in improving institutional performance and enhancing services provided to citizens.
The minister also chaired a working meeting with government commissioners overseeing the water establishments, the Litani River Authority and Electricité du Liban, highlighting their key role in ensuring the proper functioning of boards in line with the government’s broader objectives and public service priorities.
