Chairman of Parliament’s Finance and Budget Committee, MP Ibrahim Kanaan, met with U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Michel Issa at his residence in Bayada for talks that lasted more than 90 minutes.
Discussions focused on developments in Lebanon and the region, particularly the ongoing negotiations in Washington and their importance in securing a ceasefire, strengthening Lebanese sovereignty and stability, and creating the conditions necessary for reconstruction.
The meeting also addressed financial and economic reforms aimed at restoring confidence in Lebanon, advancing economic recovery, safeguarding depositors’ rights and restructuring the financial sector.
Both sides further discussed the importance of supporting the Lebanese Army and enhancing its ability to carry out its responsibilities, reinforcing state authority and expanding the presence of state institutions across Lebanese territory.
