Lebanese MP Gebran Bassil, head of the Free Patriotic Movement, wrote on X:
“Our position is clear and does not need meetings to explain it:
Pardoning the wrongfully accused is a duty.
Amnesty for drug dealers and killers is unacceptable.
Amnesty for those who stole depositors’ money is forbidden.
The issue of pardoning those who killed members of the army should not even be raised, because we have always been and will remain supporters of the army and its martyrs.
The President, the Minister of Defense, and the Army Commander are preserving the institution, and we stand against impunity.”
