Former General Security chief, Major General Abbas Ibrahim, denied reports linking him to a Lebanese-American lawyer representing a suspect accused of collaborating with Israel and involvement in attacks against residents of southern Lebanon.
In a statement, Ibrahim described the allegations circulated by what he called suspicious media platforms as entirely false, saying he had never met or known the lawyer in question.
Ibrahim stressed that collaboration with Israel had always been a red line during his security career and said he had consistently confronted espionage networks and any ties with the Israeli enemy.
Ibrahim also added that defending or attempting to rehabilitate collaborators was as dangerous as the acts themselves, accusing those behind the reports of trying to damage his national reputation through fabricated claims.
Ibrahim finally said he reserved the right to pursue legal action against anyone involved in spreading the allegations.
