Morcos meets OIF representative, Jabbour to discuss media law implementation
Minister of Information Paul Morcos received the Representative of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF) in the Middle East, Levon Amirjanyan, at his office at the ministry, in the presence of Nathalie Mejan, the organisation’s Cooperation Programmes official.
Following the meeting, Ambassador Amirjanyan said: We paid a routine working visit to Minister Morcos to follow up on the public policy assessment report on combating fake news, which we prepared last year and presented to President Joseph Aoun and Minister Morcos last June.’’
The discussion also touched on the new media law following its adoption, and the process of its implementation.
Minister Morcos also received MP Jimmy Jabbour, who said following the meeting: ''Our visit to Minister Morcos is part of our regular meetings. Today, we discussed the practical measures for the media law and the mechanisms needed to begin implementing following its adoption. We also addressed the overall media landscape in the country. Our meetings with Minister Morcos are always rich and diverse in terms of the topics we dicuss.
