Aoun to Pope Leo XIV: Lebanon Is Praying for Your Speedy Recovery
President Joseph Aoun wished Pope Leo XIV a speedy recovery following his surgery, expressing hope that he would soon regain his full health and strength, under God’s grace and care.
In a message addressed to the pontiff, Aoun conveyed the sentiments and prayers of the Lebanese people, stressing that the Pope’s apostolic visit to Lebanon remains deeply etched in their hearts and in the nation’s spiritual and national consciousness, across all religious communities.
Aoun said Lebanon was praying for the Pope’s recovery, invoking the intercession of St. Charbel, whose shrine the pontiff visited, and asking God to grant him a full recovery. He also expressed hope that the Pope’s convalescence would be brief and peaceful, allowing him to regain his strength soon and resume his sacred mission of promoting peace, reconciliation, mercy and hope in a world more in need than ever of the light and guidance of the Gospel.
