Prime Minister Nawaf Salam received MP Sajih Attieh for talks on parliamentary recommendations, public transport, the reopening of Qlayaat Airport and electricity sector developments.

Speaking after the meeting, Attieh said he had proposed establishing a mechanism to follow up on recommendations issued by parliamentary committees, particularly those involving several ministries. He suggested holding working sessions chaired by the prime minister or attended by the relevant ministers to ensure their implementation, a proposal Salam endorsed.

On public transport, Attieh said Salam would soon hold a press conference to unveil the government’s plan, announcing that public bus services in Akkar would be launched on October 24 at 11 a.m.

Turning to Qlayaat Airport, Attieh said Salam had confirmed that operations would resume soon, with the first commercial flight scheduled for November 15.

Addressing the electricity crisis, Attieh said the prime minister was working to secure the necessary financing and had confirmed that the Jiyyeh and Zouk power plants would operate in accordance with a plan developed by the board of Electricité du Liban (EDL) to improve performance.
