President Joseph Aoun received MP Michel Douaihy, who said discussions focused on Lebanon’s security challenges amid ongoing regional tensions, difficult economic and living conditions, and anticipated financial reforms. Douaihy stressed the need for national efforts to protect stability and advance economic recovery.
Aoun also met Mayor Mohammad Mheidli, who briefed him on the town’s needs and damage caused by Israeli attacks, including the destruction of 42 residential units, damage to municipal vehicles and the displacement of residents. Aoun reaffirmed the state’s commitment to supporting the resilience of southerners.
Former MP Hadi Hobeish later discussed diplomatic efforts to secure Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory, placing arms under state authority, the electricity file and financing for the Akkar coastal highway, which he said is vital for Akkar and René Mouawad Airport in Kleiat.
