Veterinarians’ Syndicate Head Dr. Ihab Shaaban thanked, in a statement, Brig. Gen. Mustafa Badran, commander of the North Regional Area at the Internal Security Forces, for responding to the Syndicate’s call and instructing security forces to investigate the matter and arrest anyone impersonating a veterinarian or practicing the profession illegally.
The statement said that, as a result, six unauthorized practitioners were arrested and referred to the competent judiciary, after the North Agriculture Department received 12 packages containing seized medicines and equipment that were found not to meet the required standards.
Shaaban stressed that the Syndicate would continue to monitor and pursue such violations in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, given the harm illegal practices cause to the work of veterinarians, as well as their impact on food safety and animal health through the use of smuggled medicines or the improper provision of treatment.
