MP Elias Hankach called on Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, from Parliament, to work toward achieving balanced development across all regions, noting that the Constitution stipulates that the MP is a representative of the nation.
“I am speaking today about the Metn region, which has suffered from neglect for 40 years. It is my responsibility to brief you on the situation in Metn and the status of reform efforts in the district,” he said.
Hankach also called for implementing the decision to disarm in Metn, as in Beirut and other Lebanese regions, asking how can training camps operated by remnants of the Assad regime and others be allowed to exist in our mountains.
He also asked the Environment Minister about landfills, including a marine landfill where the waste has risen above sea level.
