Abi Ramia on Abbot Naaman: “He left a distinctive mark on both the Church and Lebanon”
MP Simon Abi Ramia wrote on his X account: “I offered my condolences following the death of Abbot Boulous Naaman, who was a prominent national and spiritual figure and left a distinctive mark on both the Church and national life in Lebanon.
The late Abbot was known for his sovereign outlook and deep faith in Lebanon. He also played a historic role during his tenure as head of the Maronite Order, at a critical and pivotal stage in the history of the Maronites and Lebanon, with his ecclesiastical and national presence reflecting deeply rooted principles in defending Lebanon’s identity, sovereignty and independence.
We will miss Abbot Boulos Naaman, not only as a clergyman, but as a national voice who carried Lebanon’s concerns and causes, and as a priest who fulfilled his spiritual and national mission with unwavering commitment.
We bid him farewell today in the hope that he will look down upon us as we work in the supreme interest of Lebanon, preserve the Lebanon he believed in and defended, and continue the path that brings together faith in the nation, service to people and the preservation of their dignity.
May he rest in peace, and may his spiritual and national legacy inspire us to continue serving Lebanon.”
