Al-Hajjar meets Pakistani PM
Interior and Municipalities Minister Ahmad Al-Hajjar met Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif as part of his official visit to Islamabad, with talks focusing on strengthening bilateral relations and expanding security cooperation between Lebanon and Pakistan.
During the meeting, Al-Hajjar conveyed the greetings of Prime Minister Nawaf Salam and reaffirmed Lebanon’s desire to deepen bilateral cooperation with Pakistan across various fields, particularly security, in a manner that serves mutual interests and strengthens coordination in addressing current regional challenges.
Sharif welcomed Al-Hajjar and stressed the importance of reinforcing the fraternal relations between the two countries. He conveyed his warm wishes to the Lebanese leadership, condemned Israeli attacks on Lebanon and reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast solidarity with Lebanon and its people during the current difficult circumstances, as well as its support for Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Pakistani side was represented by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Interior and Narcotics Control Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Housing Minister Riaz Hussain Pirzada and Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry.
The Lebanese delegation included Ambassador to Pakistan Abdul Aziz Issa, Internal Security Forces Director General Major General Raed Abdullah, Central Internal Security Council Secretary Brigadier General Sami Nassif and ISF Information Branch Chief Brigadier General Mahmoud Qobrosli.
At the conclusion of the meeting and in the presence of Sharif, Al-Hajjar and Naqvi signed a memorandum of understanding between Lebanon and Pakistan on the transfer of prisoners, with Hajjar signing on behalf of Lebanon’s Ministry of Justice.
