Issa: Washington Supports a Sovereign Lebanon
US Ambassador to Lebanon Michel Issa reaffirmed Washington’s support for Lebanon following a meeting with Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Latif Derian.
The United States is committed to standing by Lebanon and supporting the achievement of its sovereignty, and our positions are closely aligned with those of the Grand Mufti, Issa said.
He added that discussions focused on Lebanon’s future and the importance of coexistence.
I told him that the United States stands with the Lebanese people and wants Lebanon to be a safe and independent country, Issa said.
