Lebanon-UAE Ties Enter a Promising New Phase

  • Wed August 26 2026 4:59 pm

Lebanon’s economic bodies’ president and former minister Mohammad Choucair said that “Lebanon is heading toward a promising phase as reconstruction begins, alongside the development of infrastructure and economic and service facilities,” noting that “there are many opportunities and projects that can be implemented through public-private partnerships and by leveraging Emirati capabilities.”

The remarks came during the Lebanese-Emirati Economic Forum, hosted by the Lebanese Economic Organizations at the Beirut and Mount Lebanon Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture. Choucair welcomed the Emirati delegation, saying that “its presence in Lebanon following the crises the country has gone through reflects the beginning of Lebanon’s recovery and the restoration of confidence among the Arab and international communities.”

Choucair stressed that “the establishment of the Lebanese-Emirati Business Council, the lifting of the travel ban, and ultimately the visit of the Emirati delegation to Lebanon are indicators of the strength of the fraternal ties between the two countries.”

For his part, Sultan Abdullah Al Owais, Vice President of the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry, underscored the importance of enhancing economic cooperation, noting that “trade relations between the two countries date back to the 1970s” and that there is a desire to pave the way for increased trade and investment between Lebanon and the UAE. He also said there would be a significant increase in private-sector investment across several sectors, including industry, logistics, hospitality and healthcare.
