Late-August Weather Takes a Wild Turn!
The Meteorological Department at the Directorate General of Civil Aviation expects Lebanon and the eastern Mediterranean to experience typical humid summer weather, with temperatures above seasonal averages in inland and mountainous areas. Conditions are expected to remain generally stable until Saturday, when a weak low-pressure system will bring cooler air masses, leading to a drop in temperatures and some localized weather fluctuations.
The department also warned against prolonged exposure to sunlight and the risk of wildfires in forested areas.
Weather forecast in Lebanon:
Monday: Partly cloudy to cloudy, with fog over the mountains and little change in temperatures. Humidity will remain high along the coast, increasing the feeling of heat.
Tuesday: Partly cloudy to cloudy, with occasionally dense fog over the mountains. Temperatures will remain largely unchanged along the coast and in the mountains, while falling slightly inland. Drizzle is expected over the northern mountains from the afternoon.
Wednesday: Partly cloudy with dense fog over the mountains. Temperatures will remain largely unchanged inland and along the coast, with high humidity adding to the feeling of heat, while temperatures will rise significantly in mountainous areas. Scattered drizzle is expected over the northern mountains in the afternoon.
Thursday: Partly cloudy, with little change in temperatures and dense fog over the mountains, at times reducing visibility. Scattered drizzle is expected over the northern mountains from midday.
Surface winds: Southwesterly to southerly, occasionally active in northern areas, at speeds of 15–30 km/h.
Visibility: Moderate along the coast, occasionally reduced over mid-altitude mountain areas due to fog.
