Heat Persists: What’s in Store for the Weekend?

  • Thu August 20 2026 11:02 am

Lebanon’s Meteorological Department expects partly cloudy weather tomorrow, with fog over the mountains and a further rise in temperatures, particularly in mountainous and inland areas. Humidity will remain high along the coast, making it feel hotter.

General outlook:

Lebanon and the eastern Mediterranean are being affected by relatively hot air masses from the Arabian Peninsula, causing temperatures to rise, especially in mountainous and inland areas. Temperatures will exceed seasonal averages, peaking on Friday and continuing through the weekend before gradually easing from Sunday.

Weather forecast:

Thursday: Partly cloudy with fog over the mountains and rising temperatures, particularly inland and over the mountains. High coastal humidity will increase the feeling of heat.
Friday: Partly cloudy with fog over the mountains and a further rise in temperatures, especially in mountainous and inland areas. Humidity will remain high along the coast.
Saturday: Partly cloudy with fog over the mountains. Temperatures will remain above seasonal averages, particularly inland and over the mountains, with high coastal humidity.
Sunday: Partly cloudy to cloudy with fog over the mountains and lower temperatures, though they will remain above seasonal averages inland. Clouds will increase in the afternoon, with a chance of drizzle over the northern mountains.

Temperatures will range from 23°C to 35°C along the coast, 16°C to 29°C in the mountains, and 19°C to 39°C inland.

Authorities warned against prolonged exposure to sunlight and the risk of wildfires in forested areas.
