UN Humanitarian Coordinator Dr. Imran Riza visited Tebnine Governmental Hospital, accompanied by Nabatieh Governor’s representative Rana Raad, and reviewed the hospital’s conditions, inspecting the damage to its buildings and equipment caused by attacks in the area.

The delegation was received by Dr. Mohammad Hammadi, Chairman of the Board and Director of Tebnine Governmental Hospital; Nabil Fawaz, head of the Al-Qalaa Municipalities Union and mayor of Tebnine; representatives of the International Red Cross working at the hospital; and local officials.

During the visit, the delegation toured the hospital’s departments and facilities. Riza inspected the damage sustained by the hospital during the recent war and received a detailed briefing on the extent of the damage and the needs required to complete repair and rehabilitation work.

The delegation was also briefed on the role played by Tebnine Governmental Hospital during the war, when it continued providing medical and hospital services to patients and the wounded despite the difficult circumstances in the area. The hospital continued to fulfill its humanitarian and healthcare mission despite the damage and attacks affecting its surroundings and facilities.

At the end of the visit, Dr. Mohammad Hammadi welcomed the UN delegation and expressed his appreciation for the visit, saying it “reflects the attention being given to the healthcare sector and medical institutions in affected areas.” He also explained the hospital’s situation during the war and the significant efforts made by doctors, staff and workers to maintain operations and provide healthcare to patients despite the exceptional and difficult circumstances.

Hammadi thanked the organizations, agencies and bodies that contributed to supporting the hospital, repairing the damage, and providing the necessary supplies and equipment, stressing that “this support enabled the hospital to continue carrying out its role and serving the people of the area.”

For his part, Riza thanked the hospital administration for its warm reception and praised “the great efforts it made during the war, as well as the humanitarian and healthcare role the hospital continued to play during the war and in the current phase, treating patients and providing healthcare to the people of the area.”

The visit underscored the importance of supporting healthcare institutions in affected areas and strengthening their capabilities to help ensure the provision of medical and hospital services to citizens, particularly amid the growing need for healthcare following the war.
