Energy and Water Minister Joe Saddi briefed President Joseph Aoun on the outcome of talks he held with his Iraqi counterpart during Prime Minister Nawaf Salam’s visit to Baghdad, focusing on cooperation in the energy sector.
Saddi said the discussions were positive and expressed confidence that energy cooperation between Lebanon and Iraq would be further strengthened.
Separately, Telecommunications Minister Charles Hajj updated Aoun on the results of the official visit to Iraq as part of the delegation led by Salam, saying the meetings reaffirmed the depth of Lebanese-Iraqi relations and highlighted opportunities to expand cooperation in the fields of energy, the economy and telecommunications.
Hajj also presented the ministry’s vision for establishing a digital corridor linking Lebanon and Iraq through fiber-optic networks. He said the project would provide Iraq with an additional gateway to Mediterranean submarine cables while enhancing economic and digital integration between the two countries.
