President Joseph Aoun affirmed that “the framework formula is the best possible option and has started to yield results, Washington is now listening to us, and Lebanon’s file is on the US president’s table.”
Speaking before a delegation from the Orthodox Gathering, he said: “Our objectives are clear, and we will not compromise when it comes to Lebanon’s rights.” He stressed that “the right to differ is legitimate, but not division, and dialogue among Lebanese must take place under the banner of national interest, not to promote personal interests.”
Aoun added that “hatred does not build a state or institutions; it destroys them. Lebanese people must choose what saves their country and protects it from the ambitions of others.” He noted that “the road is not paved and includes difficulties, but there is great hope of achieving results that will put an end to the bloodshed.”
Secretary-General of the Orthodox Gathering, former MP Marwan Abou Fadel, said after meeting with the president at the head of a delegation: “We support the positions of the president and his steps aimed at leading Lebanon out of its crisis. Undermining the presidency is an attack on the dignity of the nation. The unity of the Lebanese people and rallying around constitutional institutions are the gateway to achieving the desired results and protecting Lebanon during this delicate stage.”
