President of the Lebanese Hotel Association Pierre Achkar described the tourism situation in Lebanon as dire, noting that more than 50 percent of Lebanese living abroad canceled their reservations two months ago due to the war, and that tourists were hesitant to visit Lebanon this summer amid international warnings about the security situation.
In an interview with VDL, he noted that “most tourism establishments have partially closed, and tourism has come to a standstill from Beirut Airport all the way to Naqoura, where most hotels are closed. Furthermore, the majority of establishments in the Western and Northern Bekaa regions are facing difficulties due to the security situation.”
