The Political Bureau and the Central Council of the Kataeb Party held their joint monthly meeting, chaired by Party leader Samy Gemayel. Former President Amine Gemayel attended part of the meeting.
Following discussions, the Political Bureau issued the following statement:
1- The Political Bureau reaffirms its full support for Lebanese legitimacy and stresses the urgent need to accelerate the implementation of the framework agreement in all its provisions. The Bureau condemns the continued statements by Iranian officials, which further demonstrate Tehran’s efforts to keep southern Lebanon tied to its own interests. Iran must put an end to its support for armed militias, allowing the Lebanese State to fully enforce its sovereignty, paving the way for the Israeli withdrawal, the exclusive control of weapons by the State, the return of displaced residents, and the launch of reconstruction efforts.
2- The Political Bureau considers that the recent visit of Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shaibani to Beirut reaffirmed the established principles governing relations between two neighboring states, based on political independence and economic integration. It believes this approach provides Lebanon and Syria with an opportunity to benefit from the Arab and international momentum supporting reconstruction and development, while strengthening both countries’ engagement with the global economy.
3- The Political Bureau commends the position expressed by the municipalities, mukhtars, and community representatives of the border villages, describing it as a clear response to attempts to insult the residents of these areas and question their national allegiance. It emphasizes that the people of the border villages have demonstrated, despite the displacement, attacks, and hardships they have endured, their unwavering commitment to the Lebanese State and its legitimacy. They have also categorically rejected any attempt to exploit their circumstances or drag them into projects and agendas that contradict their Lebanese identity and national belonging.
This stance reflects the true spirit of the people of southern Lebanon, who remain deeply attached to their land, and confirms that the State alone can serve as the unifying framework and the guarantor for all Lebanese citizens.
