Minister of Energy Joe Saddi held a press conference at the ministry, addressing the mechanism for setting fuel price schedules, as well as the import of oil from Iraq and electricity from Syria.
He explained that the increase in fuel prices in Lebanon is lower than the global increase, with a 24% difference in diesel prices. Due to the cost of the war, shipping expenses have increased. He added that the rise in the price of a gasoline can was lower than the global increase, and during the war period, we succeeded in preventing a repeat of scenes of long queues and the black market.
He noted that fuel prices are set based on customs duties and the average prices of gasoline and diesel, rather than crude oil prices.
