Lebanese President Joseph Aoun told Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani that Lebanon remains committed to establishing fraternal relations between the two countries based on cooperation, coordination, and non-interference in each other’s internal affairs.
He added: “We are keen on Syria’s stability just as Syria is keen on Lebanon’s stability,” noting that he is satisfied with the coordination between the two countries, particularly in border control and in preventing the smuggling of people, weapons, and anything that could harm the security of both states.
He pointed out that President Ahmad al-Sharaa had repeatedly assured him in meetings and calls that Syria’s role would not be like in the past, and that a new page has been opened between the two countries, in which Syria will not side with one Lebanese party against another, but rather stand alongside all Lebanese.
He also welcomed the formation of a joint high-level committee between the two countries to safeguard the interests of both Lebanon and Syria.
For his part, al-Shaibani conveyed the greetings of President al-Sharaa to President Aoun and delivered an official invitation to visit Damascus, stressing that his visit aims to strengthen bilateral relations and enhance coordination, particularly in the economic field.
