Bou Assi to MTV: Army Is Ready, but “Strangled” From Acting
Member of the Strong Republic Bloc, MP Pierre Bou Assi, said that “we want to ensure stability away from the option of the Palestine Liberation Organization, which ended with Hezbollah.”
In an interview on the program “Beirut Today” on MTV, he stressed that “what happened in Washington is a major step, and the stronger the state becomes, the weaker Hezbollah will be,” adding that “the state must take advantage of its isolation.”
Bou Assi noted that “the Lebanese Army is capable, ready, and prepared to act on the ground, but it is ‘stifled’ because it cannot move.”
He emphasized that “the whole world are our friends except Iran and Israel, and what we trust is only the capacity of the state; we have no other option.”
He also ruled out that the Free Patriotic Movement would rely on an alliance with Hezbollah, saying it would be “extremely dangerous” for it.
