Parliament’s Finance and Budget Committee, chaired by MP Ibrahim Kanaan, has approved a draft law exempting social security contributors from late-payment penalties and allowing installment plans for outstanding dues.
Kanaan said the measure aims to support individuals and institutions during difficult economic conditions and will be referred to the next parliamentary general assembly session.
The committee also approved amendments to a Kuwaiti Fund financing agreement related to the Sarafand sewage network project without additional costs.
Kanaan announced the formation of a subcommittee chaired by himself to develop proposals aimed at strengthening Lebanon’s housing policy and expanding homeownership opportunities for low-income citizens.
The Lawmaker added that next week’s session will focus on Lebanon’s fiscal and monetary policies, state revenues, loans and Banque du Liban circulars.
