Finance Minister Yassine Jaber took part in a Lebanon Financing Facility (LFF) Partnership Council meeting at the World Bank office in Beirut alongside World Bank Lebanon director Enrique Armas, EU cooperation chief Alessandra Viezzer and representatives of donor countries and institutions including France, Germany, Norway, Canada, Denmark and the French Development Agency.
The meeting reviewed progress in public financial management reforms and efforts to ensure continuity of key systems within the Finance Ministry, including taxation, customs and land registry services.
Participants discussed advancements under the World Bank and LFF-funded public financial management programme, including upgrading digital infrastructure, strengthening ASYCUDA customs systems, modernising SIGTAS tax systems and land registry platforms, improving treasury and cash management and developing medium-term fiscal frameworks.
Jaber stressed the importance of integration and data exchange between customs, taxation, treasury departments and Banque du Liban to improve tax compliance, risk management and public revenues, while highlighting the need to invest in staff training and sustainable digital systems.
International partners praised the progress achieved despite economic, security and technical challenges and reaffirmed support for Lebanon’s reform agenda, governance improvements and institutional coordination.
