President Joseph Aoun received Prime Minister Nawaf Salam at Baabda Palace, where they held a broad review of the current situation in light of recent developments.
The talks addressed the negotiations that began at the U.S. State Department between the Lebanese, American, and Israeli delegations, in light of the directives given to the Lebanese delegation during preparations ahead of the launch of these talks. Both sides agreed to closely follow up on the process through continuous communication. They also agreed to hold a Cabinet session next week.
During the meeting, Salam briefed the President on the results of his recent visit to Syria at the head of a ministerial delegation, as well as the talks he held with Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa and the meetings between Lebanese ministers and their Syrian counterparts. He noted that the atmosphere was positive and that an agreement was reached to strengthen cooperation between the two countries across various fields, with ministers from both sides continuing coordination to follow up on implementation.
