Rahi from Baabda Palace: Lebanon Wants Peace
Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Rahi confirmed after meeting President Joseph Aoun at Baabda Palace that he discussed with him “humanitarian corridors for those remaining in the southern villages so that all kinds of aid can reach them,” adding that they also addressed the army file, noting that the army commander remains in his position and that everyone must support him.
He added that the President of the Republic speaks on behalf of all Lebanese, not as a Maronite, and that no rights or matters concerning the Lebanese should be sacrificed in negotiations. He stressed that Lebanon wants peace and that negotiations are conducted with awareness and understanding.
He further emphasized that there is no harm to the Lebanese in Israel’s withdrawal from Lebanon, the return of detainees, and reconstruction.
