Labor Minister Mohammed Haidar chaired a meeting of the wage index committee to address private sector salaries. The meeting gathered representatives from economic bodies, labor unions, the National Social Security Fund, and public institutions.
Following thorough discussions, it was agreed to form a small working group that will meet intensively starting next Monday at the Economic and Social Council. Results will be presented by April 28 and will cover raising the minimum wage, school grants, family compensation, social and health benefits, and transport allowances.
The full committee will reconvene on April 28 to review proposals. Minister Haidar stressed the need for a clear roadmap and announced bimonthly mandatory follow-up meetings. He emphasized careful planning over speculative figures to avoid economic instability.
Haidar also confirmed work is underway to implement the new retirement system law, including appointing a new NSSF board within a month and issuing executive decrees promptly.
