Berri discusses bilateral relations, national unity and political developments in series of meetings

  • Mon October 26 2026 3:23 pm

Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri received Malaysia’s newly appointed Ambassador to Lebanon, Anwar bin Udzir, at the Second Presidency headquarters in Ain El-Tineh on a courtesy visit marking the assumption of his diplomatic duties.

The meeting provided an opportunity to review developments in Lebanon and the region, as well as bilateral relations between the two countries.

Separately, Berri met with Beirut Bar Association President Imad Martinos to discuss national affairs and matters concerning the legal profession.

Speaking after the meeting, Martinos stressed the importance of preserving national unity and preventing sectarian tensions by strengthening cooperation among the Presidency, Parliament and the Cabinet.

He reaffirmed the Bar Association’s commitment to state institutions, the Constitution and efforts to safeguard Lebanon’s stability and national unity.

Berri also received National Liberals Party leader MP Camille Chamoun, accompanied by a delegation from the party’s leadership, for discussions on political developments and national and legislative affairs.

Following the meeting, Chamoun thanked Berri for offering his condolences and support following the death of former party leader Dory Chamoun.

He emphasized the importance of protecting national interests and maintaining dialogue among Lebanon’s religious communities and political parties, warning that political tensions undermine the country’s interests.

Chamoun also highlighted growing international interest in Lebanon, stressing the need to capitalize on it through national solidarity and constructive dialogue.

He underscored that regional rivalries should not dictate the circumstances of Lebanese citizens, describing national unity and dialogue as essential to the country’s future.
