The Ministry of Public Works and Transport announced the completion of asphalting works on two temporary crossings in Borj Rahhal and Tayr Falsay, under the directives of Minister Fayez Rasamny and the supervision of the Ministry’s Regional Directorate of Public Works in South Lebanon.
In a statement, the ministry said the works form part of urgent interventions to address damage to roads and bridges in the south and restore traffic flow along vital routes.
At Borj Rahhal Bridge, works included laying and compacting an asphalt layer on the temporary crossing along the international highway to improve traffic conditions pending permanent repairs to the damaged infrastructure.
The ministry also completed asphalting the temporary crossing over the Litani River at the February 6 Bridge in Tayr Falsay. The crossing serves as an interim alternative to the damaged bridge, facilitating movement between communities on both sides of the river.
The ministry urged motorists, particularly those crossing Borj Rahhal Bridge, to exercise extreme caution, reduce speed, observe the narrowed roadway and comply with traffic signs and safety instructions.
It reaffirmed its commitment to continuing urgent repairs to damaged roads and bridges according to priorities on the ground, pending permanent solutions aimed at restoring connectivity across South Lebanon.
