The Committee of Contract Professors at the Lebanese University announced that the strike will continue across all university branches.
In a statement, the committee said: While appreciating the efforts being made to address the full-time appointment issue, the committee stresses that promises are no substitute for decisions. The strike will continue until professors receive fair treatment and their rights are secured. In light of the recent remarks made by Education Minister Rima Karami in Baabda, the committee emphasizes the need to approve the full-time appointment file at the next Cabinet session, attended by the President of the Republic, with no further delays.
The committee called for continued commitment to the strike and unity of position, stressing that its next decisions will be based on the outcome of the upcoming Cabinet session, in consultation with fellow professors.
It also emphasized the importance of solidarity among all professors and across every university branch, urging them to gather in large numbers for a sit-in during the Cabinet session to press for their long-awaited demand for full-time appointments.
