Prime Minister Nawaf Salam chaired a meeting at the Grand Serail to review progress and preparations for the launch of commercial flights from René Mouawad Airport in Qlayaat.
The meeting was attended by Public Works Minister Fayez Rasamny, Lebanese Civil Aviation Authority Chairman Captain Mohammad Aziz, airport security officials, Beirut Airport Enterprise Chairman and General Manager Mohammad Shatila, senior ministry and aviation officials, and Sky Lounge Services Chairman Ziad Monla.
Salam said the reopening of Qlayaat Airport was no longer a project under preparation but had entered the final stage of implementation.
The PM called for the remaining steps to be completed swiftly and without compromising technical or security standards, with the aim of launching commercial flights next month.
Salam said the project would advance balanced regional development, stimulate economic activity in Akkar and North Lebanon, and strengthen Lebanon’s transport infrastructure.
