Lebanon’s State Security Directorate issued the following statement: As part of ongoing security efforts to combat financial and economic crimes, and following extensive monitoring and surveillance, a patrol from the Special Information and Operations Directorate at the General Directorate of State Security arrested Lebanese national H.A., who had been in hiding and had fled the country.
He was wanted under an arrest warrant issued in absentia by the Mount Lebanon Investigative Judge in connection with a case involving suspected misuse of public funds and tax evasion linked to illegal gambling activities.
The detainee reportedly owned one of Beirut’s largest illegal online gambling parlors, which attracted dozens of customers.
Legal measures were taken against him on the instructions of the competent judicial authorities.
