MP Michel Moawad said after meeting President Joseph Aoun that building an effective state begins with placing all weapons under state authority and extending its sovereignty across the entire country.
Moawad said Hezbollah’s refusal to surrender its weapons was, in his view, imposing costs on all Lebanese, from attacks, destruction and displacement in the South to deteriorating living conditions and public services.
He added that negotiations provide a path to protecting Lebanese citizens and ending war and occupation, stressing that their success requires a unified Lebanese decision and exclusive state control over decisions of war and peace.
