U.S. President Donald Trump said Iran is eager to reach a deal with the United States, in his latest remarks on the Iran war crisis.
Speaking to reporters, Trump said Washington is now in the final stages of the war with Tehran, while threatening to tighten U.S. sanctions on Iran.
Separately, Trump warned that he could consider the European Union’s decision to allow Canada to join as an associate member an “act of hostility,” threatening to impose additional tariffs or reduce trade with the bloc if it moves forward with a proposal to grant Canada “partner” status.
Commenting on the plan unveiled by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Trump said: “It’s ridiculous,” adding: “If they move forward, and if I see any hostile action in it, I will impose very heavy tariffs or stop trade with Europe.”
