Aoun holds a series of meetings
President of the Republic Joseph Aoun held a series of meetings with Information Minister Paul Morcos, MP Marwan Hamadeh, MP Michel Daher and Industry Minister Joe Issa Khoury, with discussions covering media legislation, developments in southern Lebanon, economic challenges and the industrial sector.
Following his meeting with Aoun, Morcos said the new media law constituted a fundamental building block in developing the media sector after years of waiting, but stressed that its adoption remained incomplete without necessary amendments.
Public and media freedoms are protected by the Constitution, and the law must enshrine these guarantees, Morcos said, pledging to work toward securing the required amendments. He added that discussions also covered efforts to continue revitalizing Télé Liban and the steps needed to advance its development.
Hamadeh, meanwhile, said negotiations were the best means of addressing the situation in the south, describing them as a battle no less fierce than the military battle and one requiring a clear strategy.
We hope President Aoun’s efforts will lead Lebanon to safe shores, he said, adding that efforts would be made in Parliament to pass the general amnesty law through broad consensus and ensure that no injustice occurs.
Daher discussed the country’s general situation with Aoun, focusing on the need to address economic challenges. Talks also covered the needs of the Bekaa region, particularly ahead of winter and the accompanying livelihood difficulties.
Issa Khoury said his meeting with Aoun focused on the industrial sector and the country’s current situation.
We stand alongside the President of the Republic and support the efforts he is making on the negotiations file, he said.
