Rain in Mid-August as Rough Seas Loom

  • Wed August 12 2026 12:07 pm

The Meteorological Department at the Directorate General of Civil Aviation forecast partly cloudy to cloudy weather tomorrow, with dense fog over the mountains. Temperatures will remain unchanged along the coast, while falling slightly inland and over the mountains. Winds will also be occasionally active.

The weather bulletin said:

General situation: Humid and relatively hot summer weather is affecting Lebanon and the eastern Mediterranean, with temperatures above seasonal averages inland and over the mountains until Friday. The region will then come under the influence of a weak low-pressure system, bringing moderately warm air masses that will lead to a drop in temperatures, along with some unsettled conditions and light local rainfall starting Friday afternoon, particularly in northern areas. Winds will also strengthen, causing sea levels to rise.

Average August temperatures: Tripoli: 24–32°C; Beirut: 25–33°C; Zahle: 18–35°C.

Warning: Stronger winds and higher waves are expected on Friday and Saturday.

Weather forecast in Lebanon:

Wednesday: Partly cloudy, with fog over the mountains. Temperatures will remain unchanged and above seasonal averages over the mountains and inland. Humidity will remain high along the coast, increasing the feeling of heat.

Thursday: Partly cloudy to cloudy, with dense fog over the mountains. Temperatures will remain unchanged along the coast but will fall slightly inland and over the mountains. Winds will occasionally strengthen.

Friday: Partly cloudy, with dense fog over the mountains and a noticeable drop in temperatures, particularly over the mountains and inland, where temperatures will return to seasonal averages. Winds will strengthen, causing higher waves; caution is advised regarding strong sea currents. Scattered light rain is expected from the afternoon, particularly over the northern mountains.

Saturday: Partly cloudy, with little change in temperatures along the coast and over the mountains, while temperatures will rise slightly inland. Dense fog will form over the mountains, and winds will strengthen, causing higher waves. Scattered drizzle is expected at times, particularly over the northern mountains.

Temperatures: 24–33°C along the coast, 18–31°C over the mountains, and 19–37°C inland
Surface winds: Southwesterly during the day and southerly at night, ranging from 10 to 35 km/h
Visibility: Good along the coast, deteriorating in the evening over the mid-altitude areas due to fog
Relative humidity along the coast: 60–80%
Sea conditions: Low waves; sea surface temperature: 29°C
Atmospheric pressure: 757 mmHg
