Chinese Ambassador Chen Chuandong reaffirmed his country’s continued support for Lebanon in safeguarding its sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, while stressing the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation.
The ambassador made the remarks during a visit to acting South and Nabatieh Governor Mansour Daou at his office in Sidon’s Serail, heading an embassy delegation accompanied by Lebanese-Chinese Businessmen Association President Ali Abdallah. South Lebanon Internal Security Forces regional commander Brigadier General Ahmad Abou Daher also attended.
The nearly 30-minute meeting covered the general situation, developments in southern Lebanon and ways to expand bilateral cooperation, particularly in South Governorate.
Describing the meeting as fruitful, Chen said it marked his first official visit to Sidon in his capacity as ambassador and provided an opportunity to discuss ideas for developing cooperation, particularly in Sidon and southern Lebanon.
China has been and will remain supportive of Lebanon in achieving its unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity, he said, citing the strong friendship between the two countries.
Chen concluded the visit by presenting Daou with a symbolic gift.
