Lebanese President Joseph Aoun stressed that the continued presence of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) remains “the best option for the next phase,” adding that if this is not possible, “an alternative force should be established to replace it.”
During a meeting with the European Union ambassador, along with a delegation of ambassadors and chargé d’affaires, Aoun called on the EU to support the implementation of the “framework formula,” saying that Lebanon’s stability would contribute to the stability of the region.
“My meeting with President Trump was fruitful, and the time has come to end the war once and for all,” Aoun said, stressing that “Lebanon is committed to the path of reforms, and despite the war, we continue working to achieve our goals.”
EU Ambassador Sandra De Waele said that “Lebanon stands at a crossroads and the beginning of a new chapter,” reaffirming support for the country’s efforts toward security, stability, and reforms.
