Bassil, Egyptian ambassador discuss ceasefire and relations
Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Gebran Bassil met Egyptian Ambassador to Lebanon Alaa Moussa in the presence of MP Salim Aoun and the party’s coordinator for foreign relations, Tarek Sadek.
According to a party statement, the talks focused on the political and security situation in Lebanon and the region, with particular emphasis on the need to consolidate the ceasefire and complete Israel’s withdrawal from Lebanese territory to reinforce Lebanon’s sovereignty and ensure stability along its borders. The participants also discussed Egypt’s regional role in supporting de-escalation efforts and promoting stability.
The meeting further addressed Lebanese-Egyptian relations, with both sides reaffirming the deep historical ties between the two countries and stressing the importance of expanding bilateral cooperation across various sectors in support of the interests of both peoples and initiatives aimed at strengthening security and stability in Lebanon and the wider region.
