Scorching July Heat Grips Lebanon: When Will Temperatures Drop?

  • Thu July 23 2026 10:54 am

Lebanon and the eastern Mediterranean remain under the influence of hot air masses, with temperatures above seasonal averages in mountainous and inland areas, reaching 37°C in Zahle. Humidity levels remain high along the coast, increasing the feeling of heat, until Friday when conditions gradually improve due to the arrival of moderate air masses.

The weather will return to typical summer conditions, with temperatures dropping back to seasonal averages. Local weather fluctuations are expected from Saturday evening, accompanied by increased wind activity.

Average July temperatures:

Tripoli: 23–31°C
Beirut: 24–32°C
Zahle: 18–34°C

Warning: Strong winds are expected on Friday and Saturday, leading to higher waves and the formation of sea currents.

Expected Weather in Lebanon:

Thursday: Partly cloudy to mostly clear, with temperatures remaining stable inland and in mountainous areas and rising slightly along the coast. Humidity remains high, increasing the feeling of heat and creating uncomfortable conditions at night. Winds may become active at times.

Friday: Partly cloudy to mostly clear, with a noticeable drop in temperatures in mountainous areas and a slight decrease in coastal and inland regions. Humidity levels will decrease, easing the feeling of heat. Dense fog is expected over high elevations. Winds will become stronger, occasionally reaching 50 km/h, especially in northern areas. A warning is issued for higher waves and the formation of sea currents.

Saturday: Partly cloudy to mostly clear, with a further drop in temperatures, especially inland and in mountainous areas, returning to seasonal averages. Winds will strengthen, occasionally reaching 50 km/h, particularly in northern areas, with warnings of higher waves and sea currents. Scattered drizzle is possible overnight, especially in southern areas.

Sunday: Partly cloudy, with temperatures continuing to fall below seasonal averages. Dense fog is expected over high elevations. Scattered drizzle is possible before noon, with occasional increased winds.

Surface winds: Southwesterly, occasionally active, ranging between 15 and 35 km/h
Visibility: Moderate along the coast, with occasional deterioration over mountainous areas due to fog
Relative humidity along the coast: 60–85%
Sea conditions: Moderate waves
Sea surface temperature: 28°C
Atmospheric pressure: 1006 hPa (equivalent to 755 mmHg)
